Matmata

In Matmata, the houses were dug vertically into the ground, in clay-like wells, which were in the valley, now scorched by the sun. This makes for a particularly arresting sight.

Due to it’s extraordinary form, Matmata was the location for disco scene in the first Star Wars film.
