Dougga, also called Thugga, is an archaeological site located in the delegation of Téboursouk northwest of Tunisia. It figures on the list of UNESCO World Heritage since 1997 because it is considered the "best preserved small Roman city of North Africa". The place is both remarkable for its size, 70 hectares, as well as for the good conservation of its monuments. Note that the historical richness of its Punic, Roman and Byzantine past makes it unquestionably one of the most beautiful ancient sites in the world.
